Extended Day Care Program

    1. Before School Care - 7:00 - 7:45 AM. Operated by St. James Academy (Billed separately from tuition)

    2. After School Care - 3:00 - 5:30 PM. Operated by the St. James Academy (Billed separately from tuition)

The main purpose for the extended day care program is to provide safe, nurturing, and guided supervision before and after-school.

Before School Care

Hours: 7:00am-7:45am The morning program is run by Ms. Bethany Williams and is held in the 2nd grade classroom. Parents must call 858-252-8689 for entrance at the front gate in the morning before 7:30. After 7:30 they must enter from the back gate. Parents must sign children into morning daycare.

Rates: $3.00 per child

After School Care

Hours/Days: Daycare is available from 3-5:30pm every school day except the Friday before Christmas break, Holy Thursday and the last day of school. (See school calendar.)

Rates: $6.00 for the first hour.** Each additional ½ hour is $3.00. **There is no charge for the first 10 minutes of supervision. In other words, you will not be charged until 3:10pm on a normal school day. So please drive safe and do not speed if you are running a little late. Afternoon daycare phone 858-294-9567.

Q :  What is a typical day at After School Care?

A :  3:00 - 4:00 outside play and snack time, 4:00 - 5:30 homework and inside play.

Q :  What if I need to contact my child?

A :  If you need to contact After School Care, our contact cell # is 858-294-9567. If no one answers, please leave a message and contact number. Your call will be returned as soon as possible. Please understand that the After School Care staff members may be outside with the students or assisting a student and not available to immediately answer the phone.

Q :  Is this tax deductible?

A :  Yes, Before and After School Care is tax deductible. We can provide you with the tax ID# upon request. However, it is your responsibility to keep track of your year-long expenses for reimbursement or tax purposes.

Q :  What if I am late picking my child up from After School Care?

A :  Please call if possible so we know everything is okay. After 5:30pm the rate is $1.00/minute.

Q :  What are the pick-up procedures?

A :  If you are picking your child up before 4:00pm, please come to the gate near the lunch tables. If you are picking your child up after 4:00pm, please park by the Academy and walk to the Youth Ministry Center in the back of the Parish Offices.

Q :  Is there a sign-up fee?

A :  No, we have made this as simple as possible. Please reassure your child that if you are not  here by 3:00pm they will automatically be checked into After School Care. There is no need to call the school.

Q :  How do I pay?

A :  A bill will be sent via e-mail at the beginning of each month (for the previous month). Payment will be due on the 15th of the month, or a $10 late fee will be added on.

Q :  Do students need to bring anything to eat?

A :  Only on half days will they need to bring a lunch. A healthy snack will be provided for your child each day. NOTE: If your child has food allergies, please consider sending a snack along for the afternoon.

Q :  Are the forms to be filled out with emergency numbers, contacts, etc...?

A :  No, we have access to all emergency forms.
