Plastics Pledge Class Challenge

"The Earth, our home, is beginning to look more and more like an immense pile of filth....Yet all is not lost. Human beings, while capable of the worst, are also capable of rising above themselves, choosing again what is good, and making a new start." --Pope Francis, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home

Students and families, please turn in your pledge to refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle single use plastics to Sophia Walton or Mrs. Oldham by Friday, May 12, 2017 (three week challenge). Students, staff and families may also collect signatures from friends, anyone in the community or businesses and specify which class to credit. The class that turns in the most signed pledges (calculated per capita) will win a class party in May. Currently, the 7th Grade is in the lead and we have 53 total signed pledges. A copy of the pledge is attached. Information on the harm that plastic is doing to human health, wildlife, oceans and environment can be found on the Plastic Pollution Coalition website and at this link https://plasticpollutioncoalition.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/222813127-Why-is-plastic-harmful-
