“Be kind to one another”
Ephesians 4:32

I write today with a grateful heart! Luanne has received some really good health news! While there is still some work for her to do, it is not the dire news she was told to expect. While I guess we could choose to claim the doctor who gave the initial diagnosis was wrong, I am sure it is the power of our prayer! Thank you to all who have kept Luanne and her family in your prayers!

Rock the School Concert Tomorrow – Hope to see you all! Doors open for the 2016 Rock the School concert at 6:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall on Thursday, April 21st. An important message from our parish! The following message has been sent to all families registered at St. James. Because the renovation would have a big impact on our school community, I would like to give each of you the opportunity to voice your opinion.

Help Plan for the Future of St. James Parish and School!

St. James Community is approaching an exciting time of renovation and expansion. In order to prepare for this upcoming growth, everyone is invited to participate in a Planning Study to determine the overall level of support for the proposed projects. It is crucial that all who call St. James their spiritual home take part in this endeavor. Get involved and let your voice be heard as we move forward as a parish community. Your opinion will assist in formulating the best plan of action. Please make every effort to participate in this planning study by Sunday, April 24. Please review the introduction to the proposed project, and complete the survey online by following the steps below. Your responses will remain confidential. Visit http://www.guidanceingiving.com/studies/, Select the study for St. James, Solana Beach, Enter the password “apostlejames”, Complete and submit the confidential survey no later than April 24, 2016. Thank you for your participation!

Earth Week Campus Reusable Water Bottle Goal
Pope Francis has said that we have become a "throwaway culture" and the Earth, our home, is beginning to look more and more like an immense pile of filth. He calls us to change our behavior to better care for the earth and all of its inhabitants.

Saint James Academy is working toward answering the Pope's call by becoming a greener, more environmentally aware community. As introduced at Friday mass by Nick Urich, SJA Commissioner of Safety and Ecology, our goal for this year's Earth Week is to eliminate the use of single use water bottles on our campus not just for Earth Week but permanently. Students, parents and teachers may instead use and bring reusable non-toxic, BPA-free plastic or metal water bottles. Your personal water bottle must be marked with your name. We will also have a box in front of the school if you would like to donate any extra bottles you have at home for students to use.

For information on why we need to work toward eliminating the use of single use plastic, please watch the short video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9znvqIkIM-A Stay tuned because we will be announcing more earth saving and green initiatives for SJA!

Parents in Prayer – Please join us next Wednesday, April 27th after Mass. Parents in Prayer is a beautiful and important ministry at our school.  If you are interested in learning more about our group, please join us next Wednesday, April 27th, after Mass in the church social room to pray the rosary, followed by an informational meeting.  Hope to see you there!

You are invited and encouraged to join us for 8 a.m. mass this Friday as the 6th grade assists with the Liturgy.
