Friends of Scott
In lieu of a Christmas party, our 5th Grade class supported a local charity called Friends of Scott. This charity reaches out to to support children with cancer, with many receiving treatment at Rady Children's Hospital here in San Diego. In total they raised over a $1000.00 in gift cards for the Toy Drive, and new pajamas for the Pajama Drive!

Happy New Year! Hoping that the beginning of 2017 finds you peaceful, rested, relaxed and refreshed as we return to school.

Lord, You make all things new
You bring hope alive in our hearts
And cause our Spirits to be born again.
Thank you for this new year
For all the potential it holds.
Come and kindle in us
A mighty flame
So that in our time, many will see the wonders of God
And live forever to praise Your glorious name.
Amen

Lord, may I be like the Wise Men who were guided to you by the Star of Bethlehem. Give me the wisdom to seek you, a light to guide me to you, the courage and persistence to search until I find you, the graciousness to worship you and the generosity to lay my gift before you, who is my King and my God for ever and ever. Amen.

We wish you a blessed Christmas season, filled with much love, joy and hope!

Advent

In this Second Week of Advent, let us pray together that peace may be born anew between us…in our families, and in our community of faith.

Thank you Mrs. Oldham, choir families and all who joined us! Our participation in the Solana Beach Christmas Tree Lighting was a beautiful evening of celebration and outreach!

God of hope
be with us in our Advent journey
to the stable and beyond,
be with us in our meeting
and in our travelling together,
be with us in our worship
and our praying together,
be with us in our Advent journey
to the stable and beyond,
our God of hope.

Advent

ADVENT IS HERE!
Monday morning at assembly we began our celebration of the season of Advent. Our students were reminded that the liturgical church year begins with Advent, a time of waiting, hoping and preparing for the coming of Christ. We began with one of the many special Advent customs and traditions, the Advent Wreath. We blessed our wreath and then prayed the prayer for the first week of Advent. We invite you to include this custom in your family traditions. Here is a link to some unique Advent practices from the University of Notre Dame.

Thank you for the blessing of our children.
Help us to love them as You love them.
Help us to help them grow in holiness so they can be closer to You.
Help us to live as you desire us to live so that we can model for our children what it is to be a true man or woman of God
We ask You for:
The wisdom to counsel them;
The patience to teach them;
The humility to entrust them to your care.
Please help us to grow as a community in the theological virtues of faith, hope, and love:
A strong faith so that we may lead others to grow closer to you by our example;
Fervent hope in Your victory over sin and death when we are tempted to despair;
Perfect love to give of ourselves for the good of one another.
Finally, guide us in teaching our children to know and love You and Your Church as the surest path to their eternal home with You.
Mother of Divine Love,
Pray for us.

We look forward to meeting with parents this week to share your child’s progress. Thank you for entrusting SJA with your children’s education. To accommodate conferences, dismissal is at 12:00 Wednesday-Friday. In addition to report cards and Star Assessment Results, teachers will be providing parents with a first trimester SJA update letter. If you didn’t receive one, please click here. Many exciting things are happening at SJA!
