Corinthians, 13:13

Prayer For The Feast of the Birth of Mary- September 8th
God Our Father,
Give your chosen people
your help and strength.
The birth of the Virgin Mary's son
was the dawn of our salvation.
May our celebration of her nativity
bring us closer to lasting peace
and may the virtues that she modeled
develop in our lives,
to love you and our neighbors more perfectly.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen

David Bennett, adapted from "The Liturgy of the Hours"

1 Corinthians, 13:13

WELCOME BACK!

While you’re enjoying the last couple days of summer, our faculty and staff are working hard to prepare for the upcoming school year! Not to mention all the painters, contractors, construction workers and Mike Kimberlain who are working tirelessly to improve our school. We hope your summer has been filled with a lot of rest, relaxation, rejuvenation and fun, family times! We can’t wait to see you!

THIS SATURDAY: Back to School Bonfire

St. James Academy is hosting a Bonfire at Moonlight Beach the evening of August 26nd from 4 to 8:30pm, with the bonfire at 7pm. It promises to be a delightful get-together to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of a new year. Our event coordinators will go down Saturday morning and claim a fire pit. We will provide the wood, smores and the sunset. You guys bring some chairs and blankets. Grab dinner before you head down or bring your own picnic for the beach. We’ve heard that Leucadia Pizza may deliver to the fire pit! The concession stand at Moonlight has some good sandwich options as well. Look for the SJA banner, we are hoping to reserve the northernmost fire pit. There's no RSVP necessary. But sure hope you can make it! I look forward to seeing you there.

God of wisdom, we thank you for all the gifts you have given us throughout this school year. We praise you for giving us life, for saving us in Christ and for choosing us to be your people.

As we come to the end of this school year, we voice our gratitude for all the good things you have done in us and we praise you for all who have shared in the work of St. James Academy.

We ask you to bless our families, graduates, students, faculty and staff in your love and give them refreshment and peace. We praise you, God through Jesus Christ our Lord who lives and reigns forever. Amen.

Lord, we pray for the power to be gentle and the strength to be forgiving; the patience to be understanding and the endurance to accept the consequences of holding to what we believe to be right. Help us to devote our whole life and thought and energy to the task of making peace, praying always for the inspiration and the power to fulfill the destiny who which we and all people were created.

Big Changes to Variety Show ! Sorry, your browser does not support inline SVG.

Please READ!

This year, we are taking our Variety Show outside. An outdoor music extravaganza fits in perfectly with the theme of the Show: The Lorax and our recent California Green Ribbon Bronze Level School Award. Plus, the Parish Hall experienced a flood last week and clean-up and repair is being completed, which makes the hall unavailable this week. :)

The new location is our lovely grass field, with the stage being the wall ball courts. The weather will be cool (predicted high of 66) and slightly cloudy. We do request that students wear sunscreen and a hat. This last minute change in venue requires some extra items. Please use this link to sign up to provide a pop-up and/or blankets for students to use on Friday.

Families still have the opportunity to attend the 10:00 a.m. open dress rehearsal or the 1:00 p.m. performance. Families can bring towels/blankets to sit closer to the stage or beach chairs to sit along the fence on the left side of the stage.

We are looking forward to this "new" location and anticipate this year's Variety Show to be fun, entertaining and unique. Please remember that all students should wear their costumes to school on Friday and to please bring reusable water bottles rather than single use or plastic bottles.

Thanks in advance for your flexibility and to the Oldham family, Mrs. Mott, Mr. Stiles, Mrs. Ronco and Mrs. Flynn and all the staff who are working hard to ensure a successful show!

God of knowledge, today we pray for our teachers. “Teachers are like gardeners. They provide us with all the things we need to grow: knowledge, wisdom, advice, comfort, support and love, enabling us to develop to our full potential. In and through this delicate act of gardening, of caring and giving, the teacher facilitates the beautiful development of life within the seed.”-Jean Vanier Thank you, God, for blessing us with such beautiful gardeners.

Thank you for making us feel so special this week! A huge thank you to Melissa Mahon and her helpers for coordinating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!
